Dzikowizna is a settlement ( Polish osada ) in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , which belongs to the urban and rural municipality Ryn (Rhine) in the powiat Giżycki ( Lötzen district ).

Geographical location

Dzikowizna is located on the northeastern tip of the Orlener See (1938-1945 Arlener See, Polish Jezioro Orło ), 16 kilometers southwest of the district town of Giżycko (Lötzen) .

history

Historical evidence from Dzikowizna's time before 1945 only exists in the event that the place is identical to the former Ludwigsheim . Then the place - which owes its importance to a rifle house with a shooting range - would have belonged either to the municipality of Orlen (1938–1945 Arlen, Orło in Polish ) or to the city of Rhine (Ryn).

As a small settlement, Dzikowizna is now part of the urban and rural community Ryn (Rhine) in the powiat Giżycki ( Lötzen district ), until 1998 the Suwałki Voivodeship , since then it has belonged to the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .

Religions

Today's ecclesiastical affiliation of Dzkowizna exists on the part of the Catholic Church to the parish of the Immaculate Conception of Mary in Ryn.

On the Protestant side, there is also a connection to Ryn and the Evangelical-Augsburg parish there .

traffic

With its location on the northeast bank of the Jezioro Orło , Dzikowizna can only be reached by land: from the Polish state road DK 59 (formerly German Reichsstraße 140 ) from Tros (Trossen) and from Canki (Waldhof) , also from Jeziorko (Jesziorken , 1928–1945 Prussia Castle ) in a direct way. There is no train connection.

Individual evidence

  1. The following information corresponds to the relevant Polish map series. The German sources identify the Polish name Dzikowizna with the former German Ludwigsheim , a rifle house with a shooting range northeast of the city of Ryn (Rhine) - near today's side street between Canki (Waldhof) and Głąbowo (Glombowen , 1938–1945 Leithof)
