Gilles Mangen (born July 16, 1989 ) is a Luxembourg ice hockey goalkeeper who has been playing again since 2012 for Tornado Luxembourg , the Luxembourg club in the French division 3 , the country's fourth-highest division.

Career

Gilles Mangen began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth department of Tornado Luxembourg , for which he played in lower class German and French leagues from 2004 to 2006. In 2006 he moved to competitor Hiversport Luxembourg in the Luxembourg ice hockey league, but returned to Tornado after just one year and played there in the French division 3 , the fourth highest division in the country. After spending the 2011/12 season at the Montpellier Agglomération Hockey Club in French Division 1 , the second highest division in the country, he moved back to Tornado and has been back in the French Division 3 for the club ever since .

International

As an 18-year-old, Mangen was part of the Luxembourg national team at the 2007 Division III World Cup . Also in 2008 , 2009 , 2011 , 2012 , 2014 , 2015 , 2016 , when he had the best catch rate and lowest conceded goal rate of the tournament, and in 2017 he was on the ice for the Grand Duchy's team in Division III. At the 2018 World Cup , he was in the goal of the Letzeburgers in Division II for the first time and was voted the best player on his team. With 31 shots saved (of 32), he was instrumental in the 2-1 win against North Korea , but could not prevent the immediate relegation to Division III.
