Monetki ( German  Sophienthal ) is a settlement ( Polish osada ) in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , which belongs to the urban and rural community of Ryn (Rhine) in the Giżycki powiat ( Lötzen district ).

Geographical location

Monetki is located in the eastern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, twelve kilometers southwest of the district town Giżycko (Lötzen) and eight kilometers northeast of the city of Ryn (Rhine) .

history

The small town, which was called Abbau Jany until May 4, 1860 , was a residential area of the municipality of Skoppen until 1945 (1938 to 1945: Reichenstein, Polish : Skop ) and is closely connected to the history of the mother community. Until 1945 it belonged to the district of Lötzen in the administrative district of Gumbinnen (1905 to 1945: administrative district of Allenstein ) of the Prussian province of East Prussia .

Since 1945 the place has been called "Monetki" a village of the Polish urban and rural community Ryn (Rhine) in the powiat Giżycki ( Lötzen district ), before 1998 the Suwałki Voivodeship , since then the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .

church

Sophienthal was parish in the Evangelical Parish Church of the Rhine and in the Catholic Parish Church of St. Bruno Lötzen until 1945 . Today Monetki belongs to the Protestant parish church in Ryn as well as to the Catholic parish church Immaculate Conception of Mary in Ryn, which has its own branch church in Monetki .

traffic

Due to its location on the side street from Skop (Skoppen , 1938 to 1945 Reichenstein) via Stara Rudówka (Alt Rudowken , 1938 to 1945 Hammerbruch) to Szymonka (Schimoken , 1938 to 1945 Schmidtsdorf) , Monetki is both accessible from the Polish state road DK 59 (formerly German Reichsstraße 140 ) as well as from the voivodship road DW 643 . There is also an overland connection from Kozin (Koszinnen , 1928 to 1945 Rodenau) to Monetki.
