Mentions

Tenth

Only 33 years after his father Heinrich (I) von Drachenfels was mentioned once in a document, his son and successor Gottfried (II.) Von Drachenfels appeared in a document dated February 3, 1258. In it, Gottfried finally renounced the tithe from Mehlem , which is on the other side of the Rhine directly across from the Drachenfels. The tithe in Mehlem was rightfully entitled to the Church of St. Martin in Liège .

As early as 1225, the Archbishop of Cologne , Engelbert von Berg, had decided in an arbitration award regarding the tithe in Mehlem in favor of Gottfried's father Heinrich and in favor of the Church of St. Martin; but apparently the lawsuit had continued to smolder.

Right of way

On August 26, 1267, Gottfried von Drachenfels sold the Cologne cathedral chapter a path from the cathedral quarry on the Drachenfels mountain to the Rhine, so that the building blocks for the Cologne cathedral could be removed more easily. On January 31, 1273, the details for the cathedral quarry were once again contractually regulated.

In 1280 Gottfried's son Heinrich (II.) Von Drachenfels appeared for the first time in the documents as successor in the burgrave office .
