Gotthard of Timroth

Gotthard Timroth (full name Gotthard Ferdinand Emmerich Albert , Russian Готгард Готгардович Тимрот ; born 27 jul. / 8. February  1868 greg. In Riga in the Governorate of Livonia , Russian Empire ; † 11. November 1941 in Dresden ) was a German Baltic officer and major general in the Imperial Russian Army .

Life

origin

Gotthard was a descendant of the German-Baltic Timroth family in Courland . The noble family Timroth is a registered member of the Courland Knighthood .

Military career

He served in the Russian army up to the rank of major general and was chief of staff of the Baltic State Armed Forces after the First World War . In the Strasdenhof armistice on July 3, 1919, he was a negotiator for the Latvian government of Andrievs Niedra . Timroth also acted as town commander of Mitau and was commander of all volunteer corps in Courland.

Von Timroth died in Dresden in 1941 and was buried in the north cemetery. He had been a knight of the Order of St. George since 1919 .
