Gotthilf Christian Reccard (born March 13, 1735 in Wernigerode , † October 3, 1798 in Königsberg ) was a German Protestant theologian and astronomer .

Life

Reccard was the son of a deacon and attended the Lyceum in Wernigerode. He studied in Halle and in 1762 became pastor at the Trinity Church and second inspector at the Realschule in Berlin . In 1765 he moved to Königsberg in East Prussia, where he was appointed professor of theology and consistorial councilor the following year . From 1776 to 1796 he was director of the Collegium Fridericianum . In addition to his job, he devoted himself to astronomical research. In 1765 he was elected a corresponding member of the Göttingen Academy of Sciences .
