In 1857, Frowein founded the Frowein file factory in Bergerhof , which was the oldest metalworking company in Radevormwald for a long time and has only been located in Hilden as Frowein, Schulz & Braun GmbH since 1999 .

In addition to rasps and files , the company built file cutting machines that weighed tons and were exported worldwide. The son Hermann Frowein was also a co-founder of the other Bergerhof companies Bismarckwerk and Titan-Elektromotoren .

Frowein was married to Emma geb. Berger (born May 14, 1829 - December 23, 1892).

Honors

Frowein received the honorary citizenship of Bad Kissingen in 1894 , probably because of his very frequent visits to the spa town. In Radevormwald the Froweinstrasse and the Froweinpark are named after him.
