Goudel (Garankédey)

Goudel is a village in the Garankédey rural community in Niger .

Goudel is one of the oldest Zarma settlements in what is now Niger. The village was founded around 1750 by a ruler named Dakou. His son Garanké was the founder of the city of Dosso . Around 1830, one of Dambo, the attacked Fulani Rulers of Tamkalla , organized military alliance Goudel on, but was defeated by the then ruler Manguyé.

The village had 665 people at the 1988 census, 968 people at the 2001 census, and 1,407 people at the 2012 census.
