Gould is an impact crater to the southwest of the front of the moon in the north of the Mare Nubium Plain , northeast of Bullialdus crater (lunar crater) and northeast of Nicollet .

The crater is largely flooded by the lavas of the Mare , so that only a remnant of the western crater rim is literally visible, only traces of the rest of the crater rim can be seen.

From the south-eastern edge of a running chain of small craters in the southwest to the craters Gould B .

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the American astronomer Benjamin Apthorp Gould .
