Government Gazette (Namibia)

The Government Gazette is the official print media of Namibia and is used for communication between the Government of Namibia and the general public. It has been published by the Ministry of Justice under this name since independence in 1990.

The Government Gazette is used for the official publication of the laws passed by Parliament, the statements of the President's office and all ministries. The information announced here are laws ( acts ) and other important state and public legal information. In addition, non-governmental institutions (companies, organizations) can make official announcements every Friday.

The Gazette is made available in print and online.

predecessor

The Imperial Gouvernement in Windhoek published the official gazette for the protected area German South West Africa between 1910 and 1915 as a medium for announcing state decisions in the times of German South West Africa .

Between 13 August 1915 and 1 December 1989, the Official Journal was, first as Official Gazette of the Protectorate of South West Africa ( English ) and later as offisielle Koerant van Suidwest Africa ( Afrikaans ) and Official Gazette of South West Africa , published by the South African Administration of the South West Africa Area . At the same time, some government gazettes from South Africa also applied to today's Namibia.
