Grünbach is one of the seven districts of the municipality of Neuschönau in the Bavarian Forest . Along with Schönanger and Neuschönau, it is one of the oldest districts in the municipality.

history

Historically, Grünbach, like Schönanger, was one of the six forest villages that were under the control of Landgrave Johann I von Leuchtenberg and, after his donation, the monastery of Sankt Oswald . Grünbach consisted of six fiefdoms . These were burned down in the Thirty Years War . Until the land consolidation in the 1970s, there were legal grounds which the so-called “legal experts” owned. These were rights of use for forests, meadows and paths.

religion

In 1988 the village community built a new one in place of the ailing older wooden chapel, which is dedicated to John the Baptist .

societies

The Grünbach-Schneidermühle eV curling club has existed since 1994
