Coat of arms of those of Grünne

The Counts of Grünne (also Grunne) come from a line of the old Walloon family Hemricourt , then lived in the county of Namur . Nicolaus Franz Hemricourt de Mozèt was raised to the rank of imperial count in 1745 (according to another source in 1747). Philipp Ferdinand von Grünne came to Austria with Franz II. His brother Karl founded the Dutch line, called the Grunne and today, as De Hemricourt de Grunne, belong to the Belgian counts. The gender is not to be confused with the noble family of the Green .

history

The Hemricourt are called in the Hasbaye in the 12th century. They fought on the side of the Liège against the Brabantians and stood by the crown of Sicily against Aragon as valiant knights. Later the family in the county of Namur acquired the rule of Mozèt. In the Walloon part of the Duchy of Luxembourg, Anton de Mozèt inherited the rule of Grünne from his mother and then called himself the first Herr von Grünne. Georg Hemricourt de Mozèt († 1749), Count von Grünne and Lord zu Harsin, was the ducal chamberlain of Lorraine. Nicolaus Franz and Philipp Anton († 1753) came from the marriage with Francoise de Lamberti. Philipp (II.) Ferdinand and Mathias Karl (Charles), the founders of the two lines, were the sons of Philipp Anton. The Counts of Grünne produced several generals.
