The village of Grabow is a residential area belonging to the Lünow district in the municipality of Roskow in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district in Brandenburg .

geography

Grabow is located on the south bank of the Beetzsee , a glacial ridge lake in the Beetzseerinne named after him . Grabow is located on the middle three lake basins of the Beetzsee.

history

Grabow was first mentioned in a document as "Grabowe". In a mention in Charles IV's land register from 1375, the village of 34 Hufen was comprehensively described. Of these, six belonged to Klaus von Wellen and four to Kossaten . Local fishermen had to pay taxes to the gentlemen of the village, von Wellen. In 1404 the Brandenburg cathedral chapter acquired Grabow from a Klaus Ruk. Only a short time after the takeover, Grabow became a desert and the agricultural land was allocated to the Domkapitelhof in Mötzow . Grabow was in the Hochstift Brandenburg , the principality of the Bishop of the Diocese of Brandenburg .

In the 16th century in Grabow there was a sheep farm , from the new Vorwerk developed. Around 1800 21 people lived in Grabow. In the 19th century, in the course of industrialization , brickworks were established in the area along the Beetzsee , which produced building materials for the growing cities of Berlin , Brandenburg an der Havel and Potsdam . This is also the case in Grabow. The background was rich clay deposits and the connection to the Havel traffic route via the Beetzsee , so that inexpensive transport to the centers on the river was possible. In 1860, Grabow was described as a manor with four residential and 17 farm buildings, one of which was a brick factory. In 1928 the Mötzow estate was dissolved and Grabow was incorporated into the Lünow community. The railway bridge over the Beetzseesträng still exists today.

Protected areas

There are a large number of protected areas in the Grabow district. It is completely within the Westhavelland Nature Park . Furthermore, large areas are part of the Westhavelland landscape protection area and the Mittlere Havel Niederung spa area . The Mötzow-Lünow field mark is designated as a protected landscape component. Sections of the bank belong to the FFH area Beetzsee-Rinne and Niederungen. There is also a protected biotope west of the village.
