Autun county

The county of Autun around the city of Autun existed since the 5th century , first under Roman , then Burgundian and finally, from 534 , under Franconian sovereignty.

The Franconian county came to an end with the accession of Count Boso von Vienne in the Kingdom of Burgundy in 879 . Autun then became - together with Auxerre and Chalon - one of the cores of the later Duchy of Burgundy .
