Chalon-sur-Saône county

The county Chalon with the main town Chalon-sur-Saône existed from the middle of the 10th century until 1237, when the last Count Chalon (and the county Auxonne ) exchanged for the rule Salins ; Chalon and Auxonne then went up in the Duchy of Burgundy .

Johann exchanged the counties of Auxonne and Chalon-sur-Saône on June 15, 1237 with Duke Hugo IV of Burgundy († 1272) for the Barony of Salins and relocated the center of his rule to the area between Pontarlier and Saint-Claude in the High Jura .
