history

The first traces of Donzy can be found in the 6th century under the name Dominiacus . In the Middle Ages, Donzy was the center of a barony and one of the most important fiefs in Burgundy. Through the marriage of Hervé IV. De Donzy with Mathilde von Courtenay , the heiress of the county of Nevers , the barony was united with Nevers.
