Bitry is a commune with 305 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Nièvre in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire and the canton of Pouilly-sur-Loire (until 2015: canton of Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye ).
geography
Bitry is located about 50 kilometers southwest of Auxerre in the Puisaye natural landscape between the Loire and Yonne rivers . Bitry is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye in the north, Dampierre-sous-Bouhy in the east, Ciez in the southeast, Alligny-Cosne in the south and Saint-Vérain in the west.
