Saint-Loup is a French municipality with 468 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Nièvre in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté . The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire and the canton of Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire (until 2015: Canton of Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire-Sud ).

Saint-Loup is located about eight kilometers east-northeast of the city center of Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire . Saint-Loup is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Vérain in the north and northeast, Alligny-Cosne in the east, Pougny in the south, Saint-Père in the southwest and Cours in the west.
