Arquian is a French municipality with 581 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Nièvre in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté . the municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire and the canton of Pouilly-sur-Loire (until 2015: canton of Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye ).

geography

Arquian is the northernmost commune in the Nièvre department. It is located about 51 kilometers southwest of Auxerre in the Puisaye natural landscape between the Loire and Yonne rivers . Arquian is surrounded by the neighboring communities Lavau in the north, Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye in the east, Saint-Vérain in the south and south-east, La Celle-sur-Loire in the south-west, Annay in the west and Faverelles in the north-west.
