Pougny is a French municipality with 462 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Nièvre in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté . The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire and the canton of Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire (until 2015: Canton of Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire-Sud ).

Pougny is about seven kilometers east-southeast of the city center of Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire . Pougny is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Loup in the north, Alligny-Cosne in the northeast, Donzy in the east, Saint-Martin-sur-Nohain in the south and Saint-Père in the west and northwest.
