Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye is a French commune with 1,258 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Nièvre in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté . the municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire and the canton of Pouilly-sur-Loire (until 2015: canton of Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye ). The inhabitants are called Saint-Amandois .

Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye is located about 47 kilometers southwest of Auxerre in the Puisaye natural landscape between the Nièvre and Yonne rivers . Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Fargeau in the north, Moutiers-en-Puisaye in the northeast, Treigny-Perreuse-Sainte-Colombe with Treigny in the east, Dampierre-sous-Bouhy in the southeast, Bitry in the south, Saint-Vérain in the southwest, Arquian in the west and Lavau in the northwest.
