Alexandra Maerz (born June 29, 1972 in Berlin ) is a German basketball coach.

career

The former player of TuS Lichterfelde had a knee injury mid- 1990s, the active sport of basketball to give up. She began in the same club as an assistant trainer in various youth teams.

In 2001 she campaigned intensively for a cooperation between the two South Berlin basketball clubs TuS Lichterfelde and BG Zehlendorf in the field of women's basketball. From 2001 to 2007 she was the main head coach of the 1st and 2nd women's basketball league team at BG Zehlendorf and the sporting coordinator of the cooperation.

From 2003 Maerz was the DBB cotrainer for the U20 women’s national team and the Universiade team of the DBB. In the season 2005 / 2006 she succeeded with the team of BG Zehlendorf promotion to the first Women's National Basketball League. From 2007 she was DBB trainer for the U16 women’s national team. With this team she was promoted to European Championship group A in summer 2007. After the end of her engagement with BG Zehlendorf in the women's basketball league, in March 2007 she became national basketball coach in Berlin.

From October 2008 to December 2014 Maerz was the full-time national coach of the German Basketball Federation and responsible for the female youth sector (U20 women and younger). From spring 2011 to December 2014 Maerz took on the main responsibility for the sporting implementation at the female DBB performance base in Grünberg.

From December 2012 until her national coaching contract expired on December 31, 2014, Maerz was the coach of the German women's national team .

For the 2015/16 season Maerz took over the TuS Lichterfelde team in the 2nd women's basketball division .
