Grand Cess is a city in the West African Republic of Liberia in Grand Kru County . The majority of the population of the city, which has around 11,000 inhabitants, is made up of the Kru people . Administratively, the fishing town Wedabo, located 18 kilometers to the east, also belongs to the urban area. The city, founded in 1915, has the highest percentage of Catholics in Liberia, the city belongs to the Roman Catholic diocese of Cape Palmas .

The stretch of coast lined with sandy beaches, mangrove swamps and numerous rocky cliffs is known as the Upper Kru Coast . Grand Cess is located immediately east of the mouth of the Grand Cess River in the Atlantic and has a long tradition as a fishing town. A small field airfield was created on the eastern edge of the city in the 1950s. There are several churches and a school center in the village. The Rally Time Hospital was built on the northern edge of the city after the civil war.
