The Grandelberg - also known by the locals as the "Schönbuchetfelsen" - is one of the lesser-known panoramic mountains in the eastern Bavarian Forest . It is 1010 meters high and is located about 20 km north of Freyung .
The Grandelberg is the local mountain of the Annathaler (Howareidla), who erected a summit cross there in 2003. Since there is no marked hiking trail leading to the summit, it is only climbed by locals, in contrast to the nearby Almberg .
On the Grandelberg there are three large rocks, from which the term "Schönbuchetfelsen" is coined. The forest area around the Grandelberg is called Schönbuchet. The rock with the summit cross offers a wonderful view of the village of Annathal .
When climbing the rocks, caution is advised, especially in wet weather.
