The Granite Normanby River is a river in the north of the Australian state of Queensland , in the Far North Queensland region on the Cape York Peninsula .

geography

River course

The river has its source in the extreme northwest of Daintree National Park , around 80 kilometers south-southwest of Cooktown . It flows north and flows into the West Normanby River about ten kilometers east of the small town of Lakeland .

Origin of name

Like the main river, the Granite Normanby River is named after the Marquess of Normanby , Queensland Governor 1871–1874.
