Granville Ramage

James Granville William Ramage GMG (born November 19, 1919 - March 4, 2011 ) was a British diplomat .

Life

As British High Commissioner , Granville Ramage was sent to the West African Gambia by the Wilson government in 1968 , replacing George E. Crombie . His tenure in Gambia ended in 1971, and James RW Parker was his successor in Gambia . He then served as the British Ambassador to South Yemen from 1971 , replacing Arthur RH Kellas . His term of office in South Yemen ended in 1975, and his successor in South Yemen was Peter K. Williams in 1983 , after the position of Ambassador from 1975 to 1983 was vacant.

Granville Ramage was the son of Rev. George Granville Ramage and Helen Marion (nee Middlemass). He married Eileen Mary Smith in 1947. From this marriage came a son and two daughters.
