The Gray Spur is a rock spur in Marie Byrd Land in West Antarctica . It rises up between the Aaron Glacier and the Counts Icefall on the east side of the Ford Massif in the Thiel Mountains .
Staff from the United States Geological Survey mapped the area from 1960 to 1961. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1962 after the United States Navy aircraft engineer James L. Gray, who died in the crash of a Lockheed P-2 near Wilkes Station on Sept. November 1961 was killed together with four other passengers.
