Greg Leeb (born May 31, 1977 in Red Deer , Alberta ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who was last under contract until April 2013 with the Coventry Blaze from the Elite Ice Hockey League . During his career he worked for the Dallas Stars from the National Hockey League , among others .
Career
Leeb began his career in 1994 in the Canadian Junior League WHL with the Spokane Chiefs . There, the left shooter developed into a high performer and was one of the strikers with the highest points in the team. In its first season with the Chiefs, the center was able to achieve 55 scorer points in 72 games , which it was able to increase continuously in the following years. His best season with the Spokane Chiefs was Leeb's last. During the 1997/98 season, the Canadian completed 68 games and was able to achieve 96 points, as well as a plus / minus statistic of +30.
In the summer of 1998, Greg Leeb signed a contract with the Dallas Stars, who mostly used him in their then farm team , the Michigan K-Wings . After the attacker drew attention to himself there with good performances and was later able to convince the Utah Grizzlies , he got the chance to prove himself in the NHL. During the 2000/01 season Leeb was used twice by the Dallas Stars, but could not achieve a scorer point. Finally, the Canadian signed a contract as a free agent with the Edmonton Oilers , which, like the Dallas Stars before, only used him in their farm team, the Hamilton Bulldogs .
His contract was not extended at the end of the 2001/02 season, so the striker moved to Europe to join the Augsburg Panthers in the German Ice Hockey League . Greg Leeb was able to convince with the Panthers and scored 31 points in 51 games. For the 2003/04 season , the left shooter joined the Nürnberg Ice Tigers , with whom he was able to celebrate the German runner- up in 2007 . A year later, in 2008, Leeb took part with his team after winning the main round of the 2007/08 season in the qualification for the newly founded Champions Hockey League , in which the team failed at SC Bern and HC Košice . Greg Leeb went on the ice with his brother Brad for the Thomas Sabo Ice Tigers as the new captain in the 2010/11 season .
In June 2012 he was signed by the Coventry Blaze from the Elite Ice Hockey League , where he played again with his brother in a team and ended his active career following the 2012/13 season.
