Gregor Kössler

Gregor W. Kössler (* 1969 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian diplomat and has been Political Director in the Austrian Foreign Ministry since July 1, 2020 .

Life

Gregor W. Kössler graduated from Johns Hopkins University in the United States . After joining the Austrian Foreign Ministry , he worked as the Cabinet Director of the High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina Wolfgang Petritsch (1999–2002) and as Head of the Cabinet of the State Secretary in the Foreign Ministry Hans Winkler (2007–2008). In between, Kössler served for five years as envoy in Brussels for the Stability Pact for Southeast Europe .

Most recently, Gregor W. Kössler represented Austria's interests as ambassador to Saudi Arabia from 2012 to the beginning of 2019 , with responsibility for Oman and Yemen . Since March 2019, he initially worked as head of cabinet of the non-party Federal Minister Karin Kneissl in the Foreign Ministry and retained this position under Federal Minister Alexander Schallenberg both during the transitional government and under the turquoise-green federal government .

Kössler is married and has three sons.
