Gregor Maurach

Gregor Maurach (born March 3, 1932 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ) is a German classical philologist ( Latinist ).

He studied Classical Philology at the University of Hamburg , where he received his doctorate with Ulrich Knoche in 1960 with the thesis Thoughts on the structure and structure of Plautinian songs ( Hypomnemata 10/1964) and received his habilitation in 1967 with the work The construction of Senecas Epistulae Morales (Heidelberg 1970) . After a short time as a private lecturer in Hamburg, he joined the University of Pretoria as a professor of Latin in 1967 . In 1977 he returned to Germany and worked as a high school teacher in Celle before he was appointed to the newly established C3 professorship for Latin Philology at the Technical University of Braunschweig in 1980 . In 1989 he moved to the University of Osnabrück , where he retired in 1997.
