Meike Rühl

Meike Rühl (* 1973 ) is a German classical philologist ( Latinist ).

Life

Meike Rühl studied Latin, Greek and East Slavic philology at the universities of Tübingen and St. Petersburg in a double degree ( state examination and master's degree ) from 1993 to 2000 . From 2000 to 2004 she completed a doctoral degree in Latin Philology at the University of Giessen . At the same time she was lecturer for Latin courses there and held events at the Institute for Classical Philology. In the winter semester 2000/01 she was a research assistant at the Chair of Greek Studies at the University of Giessen. From winter semester 2004/05 to summer semester 2009 she was a research assistant at the Department of Classical Philology at the University of Göttingen . After completing his habilitation in Göttingen in 2010, Rühl was awarded the venia legendi for classical philology. In the winter semester of 2009/10, she went to the University of Wuppertal as a student assistant . She had been on leave since the summer semester 2012 and until the summer semester 2018 she represented Christina Meckelnborg's professorship for Classical Philology at the University of Osnabrück . Since the 2019/2020 winter semester, Rühl has again held a professorship for Classical Philology with a focus on Latin / gender research in Osnabrück .

Her main areas of work are the Roman literature of the late republic as well as the early and middle imperial period , letters and occasional literature , the authors Cicero and Statius , the connection of philological-text-centered methods with cultural studies and context-oriented issues (media and communication , space , performativity and identity ) and the didactics of Latin literature and language.
