Gregorio Gomez

Gregorio Gómez Álvarez (born June 26, 1924 - March 24, 2015 ), also known by the nickname "Tepa", was a Mexican football player who played in the position of defender .

He played for Chivas Guadalajara and was the club's second player to play in a World Cup .

Together with his club-mates Max Prieto and Rodrigo Ruiz Zárate , Gómez was appointed to the Mexican World Cup squad that went to Brazil for the 1950 World Cup . Gómez played the second round game of the Mexican national team against Yugoslavia (1: 4) and the third game against Switzerland (1: 2).

Ruiz had already been used in the first game against the Brazilians (0: 4), while Prieto had to be content with the role of spectator.

Between his international debut on September 25, 1949 against Cuba (3: 0) and his last international game on July 19, 1953 against Haiti (8: 0), in which he scored his only international goal in the 27th minute to the intermediate result of 3: 0 , Tepa Gómez completed a total of 6 missions in the dress of his national team.
