Gregorios Manos

Gregorios Manos (* 1851 in Athens , † 1928 in Corfu ) was a Greek diplomat and collector of Chinese art , Japanese art and Korean cultural objects .

Career

Gregory Manos studied from 1870 to 1871 jurisprudence . He then studied literature in Leipzig from 1872 to 1873 and continued this study from 1873 to 1875 in Berlin, where he received his doctorate in philosophy in 1875 .

In 1885 he entered the foreign service and was employed in Istanbul , Vienna and Berlin .

From 1897 to 1910 Grigorios Manos was the Greek ambassador in Vienna. He left his art collection to the Museum of Asian Art in Corfu.
