Greisinghof

The Greisinghof in Tragwein in Upper Austria's Mühlviertel is a Marianist monastery and a church education center . At the same time it is the seat of the regional leadership of the order for Germany and Austria.

The former Greisinghof farm was taken over in 1904 by the Marianists who had been working in Austria since 1857 as a training center for the novitiate of the order. The Greisinghof has had its own church since 1957, which was decorated with wall paintings in 1981 by the Polish artist Teresa Stankiewicz.

In 1976 it was converted into an education center, which was rebuilt and expanded in the early 1990s. The house also has a Bible garden in which only the plants mentioned in the Bible are cultivated. The first rector was Alois Leitner .

Named after the founder of the order house Chaminade on Greisinghof's Country Manager in Austria and Germany (located since 1986 Provizialat ) of the Order. Regional superior is P. Mag. Hans Eidenberger SM.

Jakob Gapp , beatified by Pope John Paul II, was a priest in the resistance against National Socialism and a novice at the Greisinghof in 1920/21 .
