The border crossing Lessowo-Hamzabeyli lies between Bulgaria and Turkey ( Bulgarian ГКПП Лесово-Хамзабейли - GKPP Lessowo - Granitschen Kontrolno Propuskwatelen point Lessowo - border control passage point Lessowo). It is located next to the Bulgarian village of the same name Lessowo and the Turkish village of Hamzabeyli. Because of the often chronic congestion of the Kapitan Andreewo-Kapıkule border crossing, a new border crossing was opened further east in June 2005 between Lessowo and Hamzabeyli. The Lesowo border crossing is part of the eastern Trans-Balkan Corridor (Lessowo - Yambol - Karnobat - Shumen - Silistra ), which continues to Moldova , Ukraine and Russia .

100 heavy trucks, 130 buses and 600 cars can be handled at the border crossing every day. The aim is to relieve the other Bulgarian-Turkish border crossings. The buildings at the border crossing have an area of ​​10,000 m².

The border crossing shortened the route from the Danube to Istanbul and Edirne. The administrative district of Yambol and the municipality of Elchowo (in the administrative district of Yambol) will thus have a direct connection to the neighboring Turkish province of Kırklareli (Bulgarian Лозенград / Losengrad ) and the municipality of Lalapaşa (Bulgarian Лалапаша / Lalapascha ) in the province of Edirne .

In 2005 the plan was adopted to open 15 more border crossings between Bulgaria and Turkey over the next ten years. The Belewren-Ahlatlı (Белеврен-Ахлатлъ), Tsarewo- İğneada (Царево-Инеада) and Strandscha - Kofçaz (Странджа-Кофчаз) crossings are planned.

The Lesowo border crossing was already known in the press through gold smuggling.
