Wülperode border monument

The Wülperode border monument is a memorial that commemorates the time of German division . It is located in the area of Wülperode in the Harz district , in the immediate vicinity of Wiedelah in the Goslar district . It includes an originally preserved section of the GDR border fortifications .

The area was overgrown over the years; it was prepared as a memorial by members of the Abbenrode Heimatverein as well as by teachers and students from the Fallstein Gymnasium in nearby Osterwieck . Information boards were drawn up and set up. The site is now a listed building .

On the night of November 8th to 9th, 2019, the memorial was destroyed by tearing out the information boards. The information board on the division of Germany was sawed off and overturned. The state security began the investigation.
