The border fortress of Ramses III. ( Arabic Tell er-Herr , ancient Egyptian Mekter-en-Ra-mesi-su-heqa-Iunu ; place name: Magdolos ) was the name of Ramses III. in the 20th Dynasty built fortification tower ( West Semitic Migdol ), which was about 7 kilometers southwest of Pelusium and about 13 kilometers northeast of Sile in the east of the Nile Delta .

The small fortress was part of the Sile complex and served as a watchtower to provide an overview of the area near the border. In addition, a border fortress also functioned as a border control point for travelers, traders, wandering nomads and messengers.
