Grewenich ( Luxembourgish Griewenech ) is a district of the local community Langsur in the district of Trier-Saarburg in Rhineland-Palatinate .
location
Grewenich is located in the valley of the Stegbach. The L 43 runs through the town. Neighboring towns are Trierweiler and Fusenich in the east, Mesenich in the south and Metzdorf in the west .
history
In 1190 the village is mentioned for the first time as "Crevenich". In 1624 Grewenich was almost completely extinct due to the plague. There was only one fireplace left. The plague cross was erected as early as 1613. After the plague, Grewenich was presumably re-established and thus did not go under.
