Fusenich is a district of the local community Trierweiler in the district of Trier-Saarburg in Rhineland-Palatinate with about 280 inhabitants.

location

Fusenich is located in the southern Eifel near the border with Luxembourg , which follows the Sauer here . The village stands above the valley of the Gelbach, which flows over the Stegbach into the Sauer, at an altitude of about 289 meters above sea level in the center and rises to 375 meters on the Auf der First hill .

Trierweiler is about 1 km in the north, Trier 6 km in the east and the city of Luxembourg 24 km in the south-west, both as the crow flies.

history

In 1259 the place was first mentioned as "Vosene". However, there are indications that the location and its surroundings were settled much earlier.

On March 16, 1974, the until then independent community of Fusenich with 94 inhabitants at the time, like Udelfangen , was incorporated into Trierweiler.
