The Griffin Cove (English for grasping Bay ) is a small oval bay in the northeast of Livingston Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is bounded in the northeast by the Gargoyle Bastion , in the southeast by the Basilisk Crag and in the southwest by the headland Organpipe Point .
The bay is one of the geographical features in the Williams Point area that are named after mythical creatures. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee (APC) named it in 1997 after the griffin .
