The Grimmeisen fountain is a combined source Martental the Palatinate Forest . It is classified as a natural monument and is located on the forest area of ​​the Palatinate country town of Deidesheim .

The Grimmeisenbrunnen feeds the Weinbach , whose source, the Weinbachspring , is located about 400 meters to the west and is also a natural monument.

The fountain was created in 1908 by the Deidesheim local group of the Palatinate Forest Association . His name is reminiscent of Friedrich Ludwig Albert Grimmeisen (born March 29, 1872 in Annweiler am Trifels ; † July 24, 1908 at the Wetterhorn ), who was present when the first local branch of the Palatinate Forest Association was founded in Ludwigshafen am Rhein in 1902 and held the office of Secretary took over. With numerous lectures, he contributed to the fact that other local groups of the Palatinate Forest Association quickly emerged. On July 24, 1908, Grimmeisen fell 600 meters during a climbing tour on the Wetterhorn and was killed in the process. He was buried in Ludwigshafen am Rhein.

A few hundred meters southeast of the Grimmeisenbrunnen is the Deidesheimer Hütte , also known as the “Waldschenke”, which was built at the same time as the Grimmeisenbrunnen and is now managed by the Palatinate Forest Association during the summer months.
