The Grimmia Gorge is 20 m wide and is a narrow gorge between 20 and 30 m deep on the Ingrid Christensen coast of the East Antarctic Princess Elisabeth Land . It is the more easterly of two north-south facing gorges in the Vestfold Mountains and ends on a scree bank east of Krok Lake . There is a small waterfall on the east side of the southern end .
The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia named them after the distinctive moss cushions of the genus Grimmia at the exit of the gorge.
