Grischa Ludwig

Grischa Ludwig (born January 10, 1974 in Stuttgart , Baden-Württemberg ) is an internationally successful German western rider .

Career

Grischa Ludwig had contact with horses from childhood, his father runs an equestrian therapy center. As a teenager he tried different sports, such as cycling, athletics and archery. In the end he came back to riding and decided to go western riding ("As a teenager I liked the way it was done. Western riding is incredibly easy going").

In 1992 he won the Youth Quarter Horse World Cup Western Riding in Australia .

He trained with the Americans Todd Arvidson , Karl McCuiston and Doug Milholland , among others .

In 2000 he won the Americana in Augsburg in the saddle of As Smart As Charley , which earned him third place in the overall annual ranking of the United States of America - the greatest success of a German western rider to date.

In 2001 and 2004 he became the German Reining Champion, and in 2007 he was also European Team Champion.

At the World Championships in Lexington (Kentucky) , he finished fifth in singles with Hot Smokin Chex (thus the best couple in Europe) and sixth with the team.

Ludwig is a sixteen-time European Champion of the American Quarter Horse Association . Since 1997 he has been running a stud farm with a training stable in Bitz .
