The Hansgörgl (also: Hansgörgel , Hansgörgl , Hansgiergl and Hans Giergel ) is a two-peaked mountain in the Franconian Alb between Reichenschwand and Altensittenbach in the district of Nürnberger Land in Bavaria . The mountain is divided into the large (601 m) and the small Hansgörgl (553 m). Because of their location and height, the peaks can be seen from afar.

history

At the summit of the Kleiner Hansgörgel are the remains of a castle stable ; Finds of ceramics and mortar remains point this castle to the 13th century.

The Hersbruck Beautification Association built a viewing pavilion on the summit of the Großer Hansgörgel in 1877, but this was demolished around 1935. He was also called Rigi des Pegnitztal . The name of the mountain is said to come from a legendary robber baron and poacher.

Hansgörglschacht

On the southern slope there is a small cave called the Hansgörglschacht , Teufelsloch or Räuberloch. The cave is registered as D 1 in the Franconian Alb cave register (HFA). The cave is a shaft cave . The entrance is right next to a tree.
