The Großglockner Ultra-Trail (abbreviated GGUT) is an ultramarathon in Austria . It starts and ends in Kaprun, mostly on hiking trails around the Großglockner .
Held for the first time in 2015, it is one of the most demanding mountain marathons in Austria with a length of 110 km and around 6500 positive meters in altitude .

route

With a few exceptions, the entire route runs on existing nature trails. From Kaprun, the Großglockner is circled clockwise. Glocknerhaus , Salmhütte , Stüdlhütte , Kalser Tauernhaus and the Kaprun high mountain reservoirs are mostly well-known reference points. The time limit for a valid rating is 29 hours. The course record of 14:25:41 was set in 2018.

Alternative competitions

There is also the option of doing the route on a shortened route or as a team:

• Grossglockner Trail : from Kals over the Teischnitz valley to the Stüdlhütte and over the second part of the route to Kaprun, thus 75 km and 4000 meters in altitude
• Kalser Tauern Trail : leads over the 2nd part of the route largely from Kals am Großglockner to Kaprun, thus 50 km and 2000 hm
• Weissee Gletscherwelt Trail : later entry at the Berghotel Rudolfshütte , thus only 30 km and 1000 m elevation gain
• GOOD 110 | 2 : the ultra route for two with a change in Kals am Großglockner, thus 60 km with 4500 m and 50 km with 2000 m

The regulations stipulate that the participants must have personal autonomy in the mountains. Depending on the competition, it is mandatory to carry mandatory equipment.

Due to small adjustments to the route, the times are only partially comparable.

Others

Participation in the Grossglockner UltraTrail requires the successful completion of a qualification run with at least two points according to ITRA criteria within the two previous years.

Successful participation within the given times will award five ITRA / UTMB points for the Großglockner UltraTrail , four for the Grossglockner Trail , three for the Kalser Tauern Trail and two ITRA / UTMB points for the Weissee Gletscherwelt Trail .

In 2020, the event originally planned for July 24th was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic . In 2021, it is planned to take place between July 30th and August 1st.
