Sprockhoff no. 49

The large stone grave Bohnert is a megalithic grave complex of the Neolithic funnel cup culture near Bohnert , a district of Kosel in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district in Schleswig-Holstein . The grave bears the Sprockhoff number 49. It was archaeologically examined by Friedrich Knorr in 1911 .

location

The grave is located about 750 m northeast of Bohnert on the municipality border with Rieseby in a field. There are several other large stone graves in the vicinity : 3 km to the northeast are the large stone graves near Büstorf . 2 km east was the destroyed stone grave Norby .

description

The complex has an almost north-south oriented burial chamber with a length of 2.1 m and a width of 1 m , which is set deep in the ground . There are three wall stones on the western and two on the eastern long side, a terminal stone on the southern narrow side and the two cap stones. The northern capstone has a bowl on its upper side . The northern wall stone on the east side and the northern narrow side are missing. The type of grave cannot be determined with certainty. It is likely to be a dolmen (an extended dolmen or a large dolmen depending on the definition ). Ernst Sprockhoff also thought it possible that the access to the chamber was between the two preserved wall stones on the eastern long side, which means that the complex could actually be classified as a passage grave.
