The Lindstedt large stone grave is a megalithic grave complex of the Neolithic deep-engraved ceramic culture near Lindstedt , a district of Gardelegen in the Altmark district of Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt .

location

The grave is located 1.5 km south of Lindstedt in the Seethener Winkel.

Research history

The grave remained undiscovered by Johann Friedrich Danneil in the 1830s and 1840s and by Eduard Krause and Otto Schoetensack in the two large photographs of the Altmark stone graves , as it was probably still completely covered with soil at that time. It was only uncovered in the 1950s. The complex has only been included in the list of archaeological monuments in Saxony-Anhalt, but has not yet been described in scientific literature.

description

Two large boulders and several smaller stones about the size of a fist have been preserved. There are more stones to the south, the size of which is not noted. It is not possible to determine the exact type of grave on the basis of this description, but the system is listed in the list of monuments as a " dolmen " or as a possible " ancient dolmen ".
