Sprockhoff no. 824

The large stone grave Werpeloh III with the Sprockhoff no. 824 is located in a forest northeast of Werpeloh in the Sögel municipality in the Emsland district in Lower Saxony . It originated between 3500 and 2800 BC. And is a megalithic system of the funnel beaker culture (TBK).

Of the 13 supporting stones that were once there are nine. Two of the original five cap stones are missing, two others have collapsed into the complex. The chamber, which is around 7.3 meters long and 1.7 meters wide and faces east-west, is accessed from the long south side. It can be assumed that the megalithic complex was provided with the edging typical of Emsland chambers . This is indicated by two preserved stones. Two of the bearing stones have holes in preparation for blasting.

Nearby are the Steenhus von Werpeloh (Sprockhoff no. 822), the large stone grave Werpeloh II Sprockhoff no. 823 and the next Klein Stavern III (two cap jewels) smallest passage grave west of the Weser with only three cap jewels and a great dolmen .
