Groep fan Auwerk
The Groep fan Auwerk (German: "Group of Aurich") is an organization that works for an independent Friesland .
aims
The Groep fan Auwerk calls for an independent Frisian state. This should include the following sub-areas:
- Friesland Province in the Netherlands
- Groningen Province in the Netherlands
- West Frisia region in the Netherlands
- Region East Friesland in Germany
- North Friesland district in Germany
- District of Dithmarschen in Germany
- District of Cuxhaven in Germany
On published maps of the "Frisia" baptized area, however, areas without a Frisian population or Frisian history ( Drenthe , Land Hadeln , Dithmarschen , non-Frisian populated parts of the Schleswig Geest ) are included.
The Groep fan Auwerk is also working for a stronger Frisian identity. An example of this is applying for a Frisian nationality. In their eyes, Frisian nationality should be made possible for all Frisians, alongside their German or Dutch citizenship .
history
The group was founded in 2003. Her first political activity began in 2005: Frisian citizenship was applied for in the Dutch province of Friesland. Afterwards, in a sticker campaign on Euro plates, the official country abbreviation in the blue band on the left of the license plate was changed to "FRL" for Friesland to show that they prefer to be Frisians .
In addition, the organization organized various other campaigns, such as the anti- Nazi helmets campaign , which was directed against fan articles made by a Dutch company for the 2006 World Cup , which were based on Wehrmacht helmets .
On September 23, 2006, the Groep fan Auwerk presented a proposal for an Inter-Frisian flag, which should represent all Frisian regions, but was rejected by the Inter-Frisian Council in June 2007. However, the Council took up the idea of a common flag. The flag of the Groep fan Auwerk had previously come under fire, especially in East Frisia, as it had been prepared in secret by the group and then massively propagated.
