West Friesland
West Friesland is the name given to the northern region of the Dutch province of North Holland that was still inhabited by Frisians in the early Middle Ages . The main cities are Hoorn , Enkhuizen , Medemblik , Schagen and Alkmaar .
The name of the West Frisian Islands off the Wadden Sea does not refer to the West Friesland region, but to the western location within the Frisian Islands .
